Supply Chain Working Group Meeting April 25
Mr. Eggett opened the meeting with a review of the Agenda and provided a brief summary on the key points from the February 26, 2019 meeting.
Mr. Greg Gibson, UNI’s Executive Director, reported that Mr. Vince Gilbert had formally retired. Mr. Gibson stated that Vince’s proposed surprise retirement party has been re-scheduled for June 11th during the UNI Special Session & Workshop, “The Next Generation of Supply Chain Innovation–A New Business Road Map for the Supply Chain, Domestic and International” at the upcoming American Nuclear Society (ANS) Annual Meeting in Minneapolis.
Mr. Gibson then announced that Mr. Don Eggett had been appointed to the position of UNI’s Director, Supply Chain, replacing Mr. Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert has been invited to continue, as his retirement permits, to participate in future UNI activities as an ad-hoc Director, Emeritus.
Detailed discussions entailed, with Don Eggett spending the necessary time reviewing and highlighting the February 26th meeting minutes to ensure key issues and summaries were understood by meeting participants and given their necessary prioritization:
• Near Term – LWR Fleet Sustainment and Decommissioning
• Medium Term – SMRs
• Longer Term – Advanced Reactors
Current LWR Fleet Operations sustainment is a high priority.
The four major gaps from the first SCWG meeting were identified and discussed at this meeting:
Gap 1: High Risk in Losing Supplier Safety Related Capabilities
Gap 2: International Nuclear Standards Harmonization
Gap 3: Proactive means to achieve a defined US supplier content in International Nuclear Projects
Gap 4: Development of sufficient human resources, tools and methods to support
increasing number of transitions from nuclear plant operations to nuclear plant decommissioning modes
Gap 5: Proposal for New Nuclear Technologies Waiting to be Commercialized
